Client Success Story

Building an Investor-Ready Finance Function From Scratch

In six months, Chronilogix went from a single bank account and no accounting system to a fully built finance function, monthly closes, and a financial model ready to stand up to investor diligence.

Operational Gaps

  • No accounting system or financial infrastructure was in place. The business ran on a single checking account with no formal bookkeeping.
  • No invoicing, billing, or expense management processes existed, and the company had not yet issued its first invoice.
  • Financial planning lived in a spreadsheet model that had grown too complex to maintain without dedicated support.

Risk Indication

  • Growth projections assumed a steep revenue ramp resting on relationships not yet under signed contract, a gap flagged and corrected before it reached investors.
  • Planned expense ratios assumed a swing not grounded in the company's actual cost structure, and were corrected to reflect a realistic operating plan.
  • A single leader held critical technical knowledge with no documented succession or IP protection plan, a risk raised for the founding team to address.
  • Required health data compliance certifications were still in the planning stage, and were flagged as a priority ahead of scaling.

Result

METRIC BEFORE FSM WITH FSM IMPACT
Accounting infrastructure None. Single bank account, no bookkeeping Full accounting platform, documented AP, AR, and reconciliations Clean, audit-ready books going into investor diligence
Invoicing and revenue tracking Pre-revenue, zero invoices issued Formal invoicing and AP/AR in place, first revenue recognized Established a revenue foundation ahead of scaling
Financial modeling Ad hoc spreadsheet model, too complex to manage Structured, version-controlled model with investor-ready reporting Gave leadership a credible growth story for fundraising

Fueling the Raise

Chronilogix is raising $1.5 million on a SAFE to fund its next phase: a full-time CTO and first scaling hires, additional coaching agents, integrations with partner platforms, and expansion into Latin America through its joint venture with Solida Health. The financial model and reporting package built during this engagement are what the founders carry into those conversations, the difference between describing a plan and defending one. Beyond the numbers, FSM has sourced three investor introductions from its network to date, connecting the company to capital as well as preparing it for diligence.

Where Headed

Chronilogix is planning aggressive growth off its pre-seed base, with a plan that calls for revenue to grow several times over in the year ahead and a path toward profitability within roughly a year and a half. The financial foundation now in place, from clean books to a defensible model, gives the company the reporting discipline and credibility it needs to support that growth and its next rounds of fundraising.

Financial Infrastructure

We stood up a full accounting platform and built out documented processes for accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, bank reconciliation, equity tracking, and expense management, the operational backbone the business had never had. On top of that, we built a structured financial model and reporting package designed to hold up under investor scrutiny, along with a KPI dashboard so leadership can track performance in real time rather than reconstruct it after the fact.

Lifecycle Stages

Pre-Seed
This is the stage where a pre-revenue company builds its financial foundation from the ground up while structuring its first outside capital, exactly the work this engagement supported.

Chronilogix

Engange Date: January 2026

Stage: Pre-Seed

Industry: HealthTech

Chronilogix is a digital health company delivering AI-driven chronic care coaching, built to serve as a scalable first line of support for individuals managing chronic conditions and behavioral health needs. The platform is designed to expand access to affordable, always-available coaching for employers, health plans, and consumers seeking an alternative to traditional care delivery. Runs on a headcount of three. Rather than build an in-house finance team, FSM serves as an outsourced finance function: bookkeeping and monthly close alongside a fractional CFO, FP&A director, and legal and operations support on call. It is a bench a three-person company would find difficult to build in-house and it scales as the team grows.
